Meet Dustin Blocker, founder of Hand Drawn Records and Hand Drawn pressing in Addison, Texas.
Blocker’s dad worked as a music minister and his mom was a music teacher so music was naturally in his blood. When he got to college, he began playing acoustic guitar in a band with some friends. After a couple of years, they began performing their own songs and started to tour extensively throughout the southwest.
After transitioning to work as a teacher and later joining the corporate world, he began Hand Drawn records as a passion that he would work on in his spare time. He started doing graphic design, booking and web design for artists so that they would have something they could tie their name to in order to gain more recognition.
Blocker eventually decided to take the leap and quit his job in order to work in the music business full-time. Hand Drawn records is a niche boutique label that services about ten artists. The company then bought a fully automated record press in Addison, making it the first fully automated record press in in over 35 years. Currently it is still the first one in production in all of the United States.
Blocker enjoys seeing really good things succeed and he believes great art makes the world better.
