Cadillac Races On

Posted on: Thursday, February 10, 2011

Good things come to those who wait. For racing fans, the wait is finally over. Cadillac announced in December that they will return to racing in the 2011 Sports Car Club of America World Challenge with the Cadillac CTS-V.

Does absence really make the heart grow fonder? To racing fans it’s a definite yes. Finally, after a long awaited return, racing fans get to witness a showcase of automotive athletic ability with the spotlight shining bright on the Cadillac CTS-V. Not only has Cadillac returned, but it returned with a bang by racing two cars for GM. You may remember a few years back that Cadillac won SCCA manufacturer’s and driver’s championships with the CTS-V sedan.

Now that Cadillac has made its celebrated return you may be wondering who will be the lucky ones behind the wheels of the CTS-Vs. Driving one car is Johnny O’Connell, a three time GT1 champion in the America Le Mans Series. In the other, Andy Pilgrim winner of the 2005 SCCA World Challenge GT class, also in a Cadillac.
Cadillac worked with engineering firm Pratt & Miller, who specialize in motor racing, to develop the racing version of the Cadillac CTS-V Coupe. Of course the cars will feature racing equipment for the event, but Cadillac is keeping the car as original as possible.

There are so many reasons to love this performance machine. Racing fans and non-racing fans alike can appreciate the CTS-Vs Brembo brakes, a supercharged 6.2 liter V8 delivering 556 horsepower and a Magnetic Ride Control suspension system that can read and react to the road 1,000 times a second. You do not have to be a professional racer to enjoy the beauty of the Cadillac CTS-V’s specs.

If you want to have the racing experience even though you are not a professional racecar driver, all you have to do if head over to your local DFW Cadillac Dealer to test drive the Cadillac CTS-V. This ride is superb, masculine and affordable. Whether you are a racing fan or not, you owe it to yourself to test drive this car.
